We are bursting with pride as we celebrate our two outstanding AAP representatives, Beatrice Ali Phiri and Katlego Botshelo, who showcased their groundbreaking innovations at the prestigious Falling Walls Lab 2025 in Berlin.
Beatrice Ali Phiri, who made history as the first-ever Falling Walls Lab Champion from Lilongwe, took to the global stage with a mission of Breaking the Wall of World Hunger and Pollution. Her visionary idea, which previously earned her the top prize of MK 3 million from CDH Investment Bank, demonstrates the powerful potential of African solutions to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
Alongside her, Katlego Botshelo, the esteemed Falling Walls Lab Gaborone 2025 Champion, presented his transformative approach to Breaking the Walls of Environmental Waste, Soil Degradation, and Food Insufficiency. His work stands as a testament to a new generation of thinkers who are holistically tackling the interconnected issues of sustainability.
While they did not take home the global title, their achievements in simply reaching this world-renowned platform are a resounding victory. The passion and intellect they demonstrated in Berlin filled us with immense pride, and their participation powerfully reflects the strength of African innovation, research, and collaboration that AAP is dedicated to nurturing through its partnerships.
The first day concluded with a vibrant networking session, where our champions connected with brilliant minds from around the world to share ideas, forge lasting collaborations, and celebrate the spirit of discovery.
Congratulations once again to Beatrice and Katlego! You have represented your nations and the entire AAP community with exceptional distinction, and you have made us all profoundly proud.
