New Era College hosts a consultation day

The New Era College of Arts, Science and Technology held a day to introduce new students to the college on the 24th of September 2020. Speaking on behalf of Professor Thapisa, Mr. Tsumake spoke at length on the college’s general rules, allowances, and industrial attachment. He gave an update of the Corona pandemic and the effects of lockdowns. He emphasized how this has necessitated that as new students their top priority in addition to the smartphone they need to get a laptop or a tablet to be used during lessons. “Get ready to adjust accordingly with technology, “he said.
Any information attained at the Admissions department is shared with Sponsor be it private sponsorship or the Government. “If u encounter challenges verify with the admissions department. Allowances are processed after registering students .Allowances they differ with living allowance at P1620 every month .Sponsors normally pay it in advance and this caters for transport ,food as well as protective clothing allowance and industrial allowance.”
New students are given BTC simcards for academic work. May 2020 New Era College entered into a partnership with BTC to provide access to the student portal through data bundles. New Era College will be paying for the bundle service for students for the first month. It is BTC Mobile SIM cards that are being provided, NOT BeMobile SIM cards.
Due to the unforeseen effects of the pandemic the Semester is starting in October 2020 .Mr Tsumake spoke on the Programmes on offer and said they have franchise and home grown Programmes. By 18 December it will be semester break and early January semester resumes.
“I Urge students to have email addresses as communication will be via emails. Timetables have been disrupted and things may be different in the upcoming semester in terms of the new normal. Parents and guardians will be communicated with as Well. The College expects from August they may revert to the old time table. ”Tsumake.
Mma Seeletso gave details on student services and how it is all about the social and academic life. If the need arises the college will intervene in terms of accommodation.
New Era College scooped the 2nd price in the best private college category in 2018 at the HRDC Skills and Career Fair. The College offers engineering-related programs in electrical engineering, Telecommunications, and Construction. They also offer part-time courses at the diploma level. Scholarships are available from the Government, private institutions, or The Ghodrati Foundation which is a private non-profit organization founded on the conviction that everyone deserves the chance to improve their lives, regardless of their circumstances.
